Gentamycin Sulphate (Pharma Grade) is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by Micromonospora purpurea. It is highly effective against aerobic Gram-negative bacilli including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and is one of the most commonly used aminoglycosides in human medicine worldwide.
Gentamycin is a mixture of gentamicin C1, C1a, and C2 components. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of mRNA and inhibition of protein synthesis. It demonstrates concentration-dependent bactericidal activity and is often used in combination with β-lactams for synergistic effect in severe infections.
