Tylosin Phosphate is a macrolide antibiotic phosphate salt derived from Streptomyces fradiae. It is a 16-membered macrolide lactone with broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive bacteria, mycoplasma species, and certain Gram-negative organisms. As the phosphate salt form, it is primarily designed for incorporation into animal feed as a premix for prophylactic and growth-promoting purposes.
Tylosin Phosphate acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis. It is highly effective against Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, and other veterinary mycoplasma species. In addition to its antibacterial activity, tylosin has been shown to have immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. As a feed additive, Tylosin Phosphate has a long history of safe and effective use in improving feed efficiency, promoting weight gain, and reducing the incidence of chronic respiratory disease in poultry and swine dysentery.
